A Thursday evening tornado warning is just one of many stories Ethan Fuller has from the NEPSAC Girls Scholastic Showcase.
On the latest episode of the HoopWise Podcast, Ethan returns from Worcester Academy to recap the three days of live scholastic period hoops with Steve Hewitt.
Basketball transpired from as early as 8 a.m. to as late as 9 p.m., but some of Ethan's lasting moments came outside the dozens of games. He discussed his favorite anecdotes and his approach to covering a jam-packed event like this one.
Ethan also dug into some teams who impressed him as he starts looking ahead to next winter.

How did the tornado warning play out at the showcase?
Ethan: "It's roughly 5:15, 5:20, right in the heart of a lot of games. A lot of people showing up, college coaches are locked in. I went up to grab some food. ... and you could hear the weather alert go to everyone's because it's automatic vibrate and sound. So all of us in the room get the same alert ... and you can see everyone is getting ushered out, and then we have to leave the second floor. So we're all coming down to the lobby. All the players and coaches are coming out of the gym into the main lobby, and there's a hallway in between the gym and the athletic trainer rooms and some other stuff on the first floor. Everyone has to sit in there. The tornado warning lasts until 6:15, so we've got about 45, 50 minutes that we just are hanging out. And it's funny because, as people know, the college coaches are not allowed to talk to the athletes at these events, but everyone has to be in the same place."
Which teams made strong impressions?
Ethan: "I want to start with Darrow, who hired their head coach officially, Jelani Williams, I believe two weeks prior to the Scholastic Showcase. So not a lot of runtime to get familiar with this program, but Darrow went 3-0. ... This is just a deeper team than I initially thought, and they came together faster than I initially thought, considering that, again, they've had their current head coach for a couple weeks. Darrow's up in Class AAA now, so there are no weak spots in AAA. I thought that Darrow would be the weakest team at the start just because they were new, and again, new coach, but they have jumped right in and been pretty successful in this small sample size so far."
