The split of Class B into two divisions allowed more teams from the class to compete for a championship – and the new B Small has plenty of contenders.
Kingswood Oxford leads the field as the No. 1 seed, while Holderness, King and New York Military Academy round out the top four seeds who will host quarterfinal games.
The path to Super Sunday concludes with the Class B Small championship game at Western New England University on March 8 at 1 p.m.
Let’s break down the teams that make up the Class B Small playoffs.
BRACKET TRACKER: Class AAA bracket | Class AA bracket | Class A bracket | Class B Large, B Small and C brackets
1. Kingswood Oxford (21-4)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 4-0
This has essentially been a two-year build led by coach Brad Seaman. The Wyverns graduated one senior from a winning campaign last winter and brought back the core this season. They came close to winning the Founders League and scored Class B Large wins over Westminster (twice) and Greenwich Country Day to add to their impressive resume. DJ Biggins (Windsor, Conn.), a Boston College football commit, is the star – he’s averaging in the neighborhood of 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game – while Washington U. commit Stryckland Whittley-Ligon (Avon, Conn.) and William Parkhouse (Torrington, Conn.) have been major contributors, too.
2. Holderness (16-7)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 2-0
Led by coach Woody Kampmann, the Blue Bulls have been strong from start to finish this winter, and there’s no team in the field with a better resume. They have high-end wins over Class AA Tilton, Class A St. Paul’s and Class B Large playoff teams Rivers and Austin Prep. A strong core of 2026 prospects Finn Brennan (Newburyport, Mass.), Andre Langley (Marblehead, Mass.) and 2027 guard Jayvian Cruz (Methuen, Mass.) have years of experience together. Brennan, a Connecticut College commit, enters the postseason with averages of 15.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 37 percent from 3.

3. King (14-9)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 1-1
A year after grabbing the 8-seed in the Class B playoffs, King followed that up with another strong campaign – which included Class B Large wins over Masters (twice) and Greenwich Country Day. Florida Southern commit AJ Trimboli (Norwalk, Conn.) is one of the highest IQ guards in the region and leads the way with 23 points and five assists per game, while fellow seniors Jonovan Bracey (Waterbury, Conn.), Julian Dent (New Haven, Conn.) and 2028 guard Ryan Trimboli (Norwalk, Conn.) each average double figures. This roster has strong defensive versatility and scoring options.
4. New York Military Academy (13-9)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 3-0
NYMA is making its first playoff appearance since 2023, when it won the Class D championship as the top seed. Led by coach Bobby Rahn, this group holds an 11-4 Class B record with B Large wins over Masters (NY) and Proctor. Myles Dickerson, a 2026 guard, leads the scoring while 2026 guards Adam Jeffreries and Jayden Johnson (Leominster, Mass.) are shooting better than 40 percent from 3-point range.
5. Millbrook (11-13)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 0-2
Millbrook, the top seed in last year’s Class B, graduated several key players and saw longtime coach Billy Thom depart. But the Mustangs are well positioned to make some noise. First-year head coach Garvin McAlister loves the development he’s seen in this group throughout the winter. Case Western Reserve commit Alex Hickey has set the tone as a consistent, efficient scorer, while Sarah Lawrence College commit Hezi McCoy has been a critical two-way force. An uncommitted senior frontcourt of 6-foot-11 Andre Stanton, 6-foot-6 Francisco Santana and 6-foot-4 Silas Brockway give this squad great size and physicality on both ends.
Millbrook’s 11-13 record might be deceiving; they’ve faced a tough schedule that included Northfield Mount Hermon, Cheshire and Hotchkiss, and they have a great win over Class B Large favorite St. Mark’s.
6. Beaver Country Day (19-6)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 1-3
After winning just eight games, first-year coach Alex Giangregorio has led an impressive turnaround that included an EIL regular season and tournament championship. Union College commit Lino Sanchez (Boston, Mass.) is a two-way terror at guard, while 2027 forward Jalen Rogers (Boston, Mass.) has continued to be a force at the rim on both ends. Luke Spellman has been one of the biggest surprises of the season; after barely getting minutes last year, the 2026 guard has exploded as one of the best shooters in the region. He scored 40 points, including 10-for-11 from 3, in Beaver’s EIL tournament title win over Concord Academy.
7. Lexington Christian Academy (14-6)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 1-3
After winning last season’s Class C Small championship, LCA made the move up to Class B and have impressed, grabbing wins over Roxbury Latin, St. Sebastian’s, Concord Academy and Beaver Country Day. The duo of 2026 guard Jakari Clarke and 2027 guard Nik Boateng make up one of the most dynamic and underrated backcourts in New England.
8. Greens Farms Academy (11-12)
Record against Class B Small playoff field: 0-2
A semifinalist in Class C Large last season, GFA just cracked the playoff field in its first Class B season. Nasir Dunlap and Zachary Fallquist, a pair of 2027 prospects, are the names to watch on this squad after putting up big numbers all season. Dunlap, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 20.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while the 6-foot-4 Fallquist has a 40-point performance to his name.
