The returning talent in Class B is special this season.
The division certainly lost some big names. Two of the most significant are gone from Rivers, the reigning three-time champion in this class: Amir Lindsey, last season’s Player of the Year, and Jay Jones, who went to Cushing. But 11 of the 22 players named to the All-NEPSAC team in Class B last season were in the 2025 or 2026 class. There’s also a ton of talent coming into the class. The future is bright.
At the top of the class, the talent can certainly hold its own against the higher classes. Most of our preseason team have committed to Division 1 schools, and the division is full of underrated recruits who warranted consideration.
Here are our picks for the Class B preseason team ahead of the 2024-25 season.
2024-25 PRESEASON TEAMS: All-New England | NEPSAC Class AAA | NEPSAC Class AA | NEPSAC Class A
Alex Wilkins, Brooks
Class of 2025, 6-5 guard
Hometown: Boston, Mass.
Wilkins made an immediate impact in his first NEPSAC season last winter. He averaged 18.5 points on an efficient 47 percent shooting, 41 percent from 3 and 91 percent from the free throw line. After a huge stock-rising summer that led to his commitment to Furman, the 6-foot-5 guard is entering this season much more comfortable and in control. Wilkins is a coach’s dream, a mature leader and point guard who consistently makes the right plays, and he’s motivated to push Brooks to the top of the class.

Momo Nkugwa, Governor's Academy
Class of 2025, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Chelmsford, Mass.
Nkugwa has taken his game to the next level over the last year. Following an All-NEPSAC season with Governor’s, the 6-foot-3 guard had a strong summer on Mass Rivals’ top 17U team and the Ugandan national team, as he showcased his dynamic guard skills, scoring and playmaking. After committing to Vermont, Nkugwa is focused on leading a sleeper Governor’s squad.
Andreo Ash, Canterbury
Class of 2025, 6-8 forward
Hometown: Liverpool, N.Y.
Ash established himself as one of the most dynamic frontcourt prospects in Class B last season with an All-NEPSAC season at Canterbury. At 6-foot-8, he’s a matchup problem as a strong shooter from outside who can also take defenders off the bounce and finish at the basket. He helped lead Canterbury to a No. 2 seed last season, and after the departures of Raysean Johnson, Shane Cercone and Christian Jeffers, Ash will lead the Saints into a big winter.

Ryan Altman, Rivers
Class of 2025, 6-6 forward
Hometown: Brookline, Mass.
Altman averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, two steals and one block last season, cementing himself as one of the best two-way players in Class B as he helped lead Rivers to a third consecutive title. The Penn commit is an early frontrunner to take home Class B Player of the Year.
FROM THE MAG: Inside Rivers' quest to continue its basketball dynasty
Andrew Alekseyenko, Rivers
Class of 2025, 6-8 forward
Hometown: Brookline, Mass.
At 6-foot-8, Alekseyenko is the toughest matchup in this class, a point forward who can engineer offensive sets and a bruiser down low who can win battles against opponents bigger than him. He averaged 16 points, 9.5 rebounds, and three assists last season, and there’s belief that there’s another gear he can go to this winter.
Honorable mention: Zoumana Traore, Millbrook; Amadou Fall, Millbrook; Chris Powell, Westminster; Noah Walker, Brooks; Jayden Reid, Westminster
