Don’t sleep on the talent in Class A this season.
It might not have the same firepower as most of the schools that make up the higher classes in NEPSAC, but these academic schools can pack a punch on the court. It’s certainly reflected in our first Class A preseason team.
There is so much skill and potential to uncover as you dive into the weeds of the 26 schools that make up Class A, and at the top, the talent stacks up with the best you can find in New England. There might not be the same level of size and athleticism that’s commonplace in AAA and AA, but there’s plenty to like here. If you’re a fan of shooting, playmaking and toughness, this group is for you.
Here are our picks for the 2024-25 boys preseason team for Class A.
2024-25 BOYS PRESEASON TEAMS: All-New England | NEPSAC Class AAA | NEPSAC Class AA
Isaiah Langham, Belmont Hill
Class of 2025, 6-4 guard
Hometown: Boston, Mass.
One of the best pure scorers in the region, Langham is a nightmare matchup for any backcourt in Class A. The 6-foot-4 guard and Brown commit passed 1,000 career points midway through last season as he posted several high-scoring performances, and he’s poised for a monster winter.
Daithi Quinn, Tabor
Class of 2025, 6-4 guard
Hometown: Quincy, Mass.
An All-NEPSAC selection last season after averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and two steals, Quinn is a matchup nightmare in Class A. The 6-foot-5 guard is a bruising downhill scorer and one of the toughest players in the region. After committing to East Carolina this summer, he’ll lead a strong Tabor team looking to challenge for a championship.
Sam Hughes, Dexter Southfield
Class of 2025, 6-6 guard
Hometown: Needham, Mass.
Hughes enters his third and final season at Dexter Southfield as one of the best scorers in New England. He surpassed 1,000 points at the school last season and has shown consistent growth as a three-level scorer. He’s the unquestioned leader for a Dexter team with high hopes under first-year coach Matt Droney.
PREP PREVIEW: What to expect from Dexter Southfield in 2024-25
Ryder Frost, Phillips Exeter
Class of 2025, 6-6 wing
Hometown: Beverly, Mass.
The reigning Class A Player of the Year, Frost has established himself as the best shooter from New England after a breakout summer that concluded with a commitment to Notre Dame. After needing time to adjust to NEPSAC last season, there’s a possibility that Frost could reach an even higher level this winter as he looks to lead Exeter to back-to-back Class A titles.
FROM THE MAG: Inside Ryder Frost's rapid ascension to becoming one of the country's top prospects
Landon Clark, St. Paul's
Class of 2025, 6-8 forward
Hometown: Bangor, Maine
A true point forward, the 6-foot-8 Clark was an All-NEPSAC selection last season before committing to Princeton. He can do just about everything on the court, from shooting to leading the offense and defending all five positions.
Honorable mention: Tyler Bike, Phillips Exeter; Dean Hogans, Hotchkiss; Xavier Abreu, Phillips Andover; Ford Okehi, Taft; Drew Kahn, Nobles
