We're seeing several teams across prep basketball hit their stride to close January, including Worcester Academy.
The Hilltoppers secured important wins against Class AAA opponent St. Andrew's and Class AA foes Darrow and MacDuffie this week. Leading the way was our headliner for this week's 5 Stars, St. Bonaventure commit Elyse MacDonough.
Coaches and players can submit nominations by emailing Ethan Fuller at ethan.fuller@basketballjournal.com or by messaging him on Twitter/X (@ethman43).
Here are this week’s five standouts.
Camryn Dunn, Groton
Class of 2026, 6-1 forward
Hometown: Hollis, N.H.
Dunn filled the stat sheet in two Independent School League wins last week. She notched a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double against BB&N, then collected 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals against Governor's.
Elyse MacDonough, Worcester Academy
Class of 2025, 5-8 guard
Hometown: South Burlington, Vt.
NCAA: St. Bonaventure
As Worcester Academy starts to gain a head of steam, MacDonough is at the front of the train. She averaged 23 points in a 3-0 week for the Hilltoppers, including a 31-point performance against Darrow in a 78-73 victory.
Lucianna Parrotta, Sacred Heart
Class of 2027, 6-0 guard/forward
Hometown: Armonk, N.Y.
Sacred Heart improved to 10-3 behind Parrotta's 18-point, 11-rebound double-double, which led her team to a win against Choate.
Caterina Ravosa, Wilbraham and Monson
Class of 2026, 6-2 forward
Hometown: East Longmeadow, Mass.
Ravosa continues to dominate this winter. She dropped 33 points on Wednesday in a 66-56 win against St. Luke's.
Athena Thompson, Putnam Science
Class of 2026, 5-9 guard/forward
Hometown, Northampton, England
Thompson scored 14 points and led a stingy defensive effort against St. Luke's guard Cam Nelson, helping Putnam Science win 44-41 in the Mecca Showcase. She then came back with 21 points on Saturday in a 51-43 win over Greens Farms.
