The five players selected for this edition of the boys prep 5 Stars of the Week aren’t totally surprising. They have each been submitting consistent performances throughout the winter.
And now, they’re playing at a high level when their teams need it the most, with the playoffs looming in two weeks.
As always, coaches and players are encouraged to submit nominations for our players of the week. If doing so, please email me at steve.hewitt@basketballjournal.com or by connecting with us on Twitter/X (@steve_hewitt or @nehoopjournal). Be sure to include stats and any context to the player’s performance.
Let’s get into the new boys prep 5 Stars of the Week, from games played Feb. 11-17.
Alex Egbuonu, Lawrence Academy
Class of 2026, 6-6 wing
Hometown: Nashua, N.H.
Egbuonu continued his dominant, stock-rising winter by averaging 28.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals over three games. He had 34 points in Lawrence Academy’s victory over Winchendon – a crucial win in the Class AA playoff race – which included another highlight-reel dunk.
Amadou Fall, Millbrook
Class of 2025, 6-9 forward
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Fall posted an absurd stat line in Millbrook’s big win over Canterbury with 19 points, 12 rebounds, eight blocks and seven assists. He also scored his 1,000th career point in last Wednesday’s victory over Kent. Millbrook leads Class B with a 17-4 overall record, and Fall’s play has been a huge reason why.
Teshaun Steele, Darrow
Class of 2025, 6-7 forward
Hometown: Worcester, Mass.
Steele makes his second appearance on this list this season after a strong performance in Darrow’s victory over St. Thomas More last Thursday, which swept the season series. He had 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting – including two 3-pointers – in addition to eight rebounds (four offensive), four steals, two blocks and two assists. The Worcester North transfer – who won two state championships – has been one of the best two-way prospects in Class AAA this winter.
Keyshuan Tillery, New Hampton
Class of 2025, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Albany, N.Y.
NCAA: Cincinnati
Tillery averaged 12.8 points, 8.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game over a 3-1 week for New Hampton, which included 24 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a victory over St. Paul’s. He posted 12 assists against Amir Jenkins and Worcester Academy and added 15 points and nine assists in Sunday’s win over CATS.
Kamari Whyte, Vermont Academy
Class of 2027, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Harlem, N.Y.
The sophomore guard has been one of the brightest emerging 2027 stars this winter. He had 30 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over Bridgton, and followed that up with 15 points and seven steals in Vermont Academy’s win over Kimball Union.
