After a week of season-opening MIAA girls basketball action, we've already seen plenty of highlight performances.
From triple-doubles to overtime takeovers, talent around the state showed up right away. We have a handful of college commits leading this list, but also four sophomores in what's shaping up to be an exciting 2028 class at the MIAA level.

Eva Andrews, Needham
Class of 2026, 6-2 forward
NCAA: Bowdoin
Andrews is believed to be the first Needham girl to surpass 500 career rebounds and 100 blocks. She did so with a 15-point, 16-rebound, eight-block effort in a comeback, 59-51 win Tuesday against Brookline.
Ellen Baranowski, Norwood
Class of 2028, center
Baranowski made a statement in her sophomore debut, posting 27 points in the Mustangs' 63-42 win over Ashland on Tuesday. She'll be one of the go-to contributors and a breakout player to watch as Norwood contends in the Tri-Valley League.
Avery Gamble, Oliver Ames
Class of 2026, 5-6 guard
NCAA: Trinity
Gamble, who landed on our All-MIAA Third Team last winter, opened her senior season with 23 points and six steals in a 54-35 victory against Franklin on Tuesday.
Allie Lanciani, North Reading
Class of 2026, forward
NCAA: Babson (soccer)
Lanciani logged a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double to lift the Hornets to a 57-44 win over Newburyport, and she also contributed 11 points in a huge overtime win against Pentucket. Also a shoutout to Sophie Gallivan, who led North Reading with 23 points in that overtime triumph.
Kayla Dunlap, Natick
Class of 2028, 6-0 forward
Dunlap is flying to start her sophomore season. She began with 25 points, five steals and four assists against Brookline, and then leveled up to the tune of 31 points, five steals and four rebounds against Framingham as part of Natick's 2-0 start.
Anna Kanders, Swampscott
Class of 2028, 5-8 guard
After dazzling in her freshman year, Kanders has shown no signs of slowing down. She posted 25-point and 20-point games in respective wins against Winthrop and Gloucester. Kanders also dished out eight assists in each contest.
Sarah Michel, Blue Hills
Class of 2028, center
As part of a 2-1 start, Michel exploded for a 31-point, 12-rebound, 10-block triple-double in a 42-35 win against Upper Cape. She also tallied 23 points and seven rebounds in a 36-30 victory against Westport.
Mollie Mullen, Bishop Feehan
Class of 2026, 5-9 guard
NCAA: Stonehill
Mullen opened senior year with a career-high 30 points (including six 3-pointers) and eight steals as Bishop Feehan cruised against La Salle (R.I.). Then, in a 61-50 triumph over Archbishop Williams, Mullen swiped 12 steals to go with 14 points.
Elle Orlando, Notre Dame (Hingham)
Class of 2026, 5-7 guard
NCAA: Bentley
Orlando has quickly taken over the leading role for the Cougars, notching 26 points in a loss to Arlington Catholic and 31 points in a victory over Ursuline.
Adrianna Porazzo, Foxboro
Class of 2026, 5-7 guard
NCAA: Western New England
Porazzo rained down six 3-pointers en route to 26 points, leading Foxboro in a convincing 60-21 win over Taunton on Tuesday.
Katelyn Troilo, Mansfield
Class of 2026, 5-6 guard
Troilo delivered the most critical clutch performance of the past week, scoring all ten points in overtime to help Mansfield beat King Philip, 53-46. That was part of a 21-point, 10-rebound performance.
Muji Vader, Minuteman
Class of 2027, 5-8 guard
With a 23-point, 11-rebound, 10-steal triple-double, Vader crossed the 1,000-point milestone and helped Minuteman earn a 46-40 win against Weston on Tuesday.
