Milestone moments have been a weekly occurrence in MIAA boys basketball this season, and last week featured some special marks.
Five players in this week’s MIAA boys stars reached career milestones, including one who achieved the rare feat of scoring 2,000 career points. Several of the best players in the state earned their 1,000th career point, including two representing Top 10 teams.

MIAA BOYS TOP 10: Fueled by defense, Masconomet surges up rankings
Cal Atherton, Newburyport
Class of 2026, guard
Atherton has been dominant throughout his senior season, and he continued that with a milestone week. He scored 19 points in Newburyport’s win over North Reading before torching the nets for 38 points – en route to his 1,000th career point – in the Clippers’ 100-42 victory over Rockport. Newburyport holds a 13-0 record and is a darkhorse in Division 2.
Thomas Behrmann, Medfield
Class of 2026, 6-0 guard
Behrmann’s second consecutive nod comes after he filled the stat sheet. He scored 33 points, along with six rebounds and seven steals, in Medfield’s win over Westwood to capture the Tri-Valley Small championship before he tallied 26 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a road win over Norton. The Warriors are 13-1.
Allen Brown Jr. & Odens Massillon, Holbrook
Brown: Class of 2026, 5-10 guard
Massillon: Class of 2026, 6-1 forward
Friday was a special night at Holbrook, where Brown Jr. and Massillon both reached career milestones in the same game. Massillon scored his 1,000th point in the second quarter before Brown hit 2,000 career points in the third quarter; they both scored 22 points in Holbrook’s 53-52 win over East Bridgewater. Brown, who has played on varsity since the seventh grade and is Holbrook’s all-time leading scorer, became the 86th player in state history to reach 2,000 career points. He’s averaging north of 30 points per game for the 13-1 Bulldogs, who were sixth in the last MIAA Division 5 power rankings.
Duke Cherry, Malden Catholic
Class of 2026, 5-9 guard
Cherry has stepped into a bigger role for the Lancers this season and excelled; that continued with another big week as he put up a career-high 25 points to beat St. John’s Prep before putting up 21 points and eight assists in a win over St. John’s (Shrewsbury).
Max Eldred, Nauset
Class of 2028, 5-11 guard
Eldred erupted for 37 points on 11 3-pointers in Nauset’s 69-64 victory over Sandwich on Thursday.
Jimmy Farrell, Masconomet
Class of 2026, 6-2 guard
Farrell’s standout career with Masconomet reached a milestone moment when he scored 25 points, including his 1,000th career point, in Sunday’s victory over North Andover. The senior is averaging 20.8 points per game this season as one of the best guards in the state.
Desmond Flumo, Acton-Boxborough
Class of 2026, 6-1 guard
Flumo filled the box score with 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in Acton-Boxborough’s win over Shrewsbury before leading the Revolution with 23 points, six rebounds and four steals in their win over Weston. A-B sits a half-game back of Cambridge in the Dual County League and ranks No. 21 in the Division 1 power rankings.
Diego Montanari, New Bedford
Class of 2026, 6-2 guard
New Bedford’s star guard went off for a career-high 42 points to go with eight rebounds, three assists and seven steals in a dominant performance in an 87-80 win over Barnstable. The Whalers are 10-2 and were No. 10 in the last Division 1 power rankings.
LaDainian Rodrigues, Attleboro
Class of 2026, 6-3 guard
Rodrigues had arguably the best week of his high school career. He had 27 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Stoughton, then a career-high 31 points with 12 rebounds in a victory over Taunton before reaching 1,000 career points in Sunday’s loss to Catholic Memorial, where he finished with 22 points.
Dom Taylor, Somerset Berkley
Class of 2026, 6-0 guard
A key starter on last season’s Division 2 championship team, Taylor led two Somerset victories with a pair of big efforts. He scored 32 points with nine rebounds in the Raiders’ 81-53 victory over Dartmouth, and he compiled 27 points and 11 boards in another win over Dartmouth. Somerset is 8-6 overall with a 5-5 mark in the South Coast Conference.
Jake Zschau, Manchester Essex
Class of 2026, 6-2 guard
Zschau was instrumental in Manchester Essex’s 61-59 win over Lynnfield, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, including two 3-pointers and a pair of game-sealing free throws. He also grabbed a clutch steal to clinch the victory.
