There was so much prep basketball across New England that it was almost impossible to keep track of all the action. But the season is now in full swing across the region.
Most of New England’s prep teams competed at the Zero Gravity Prep Classic over the weekend, which was the headlining event of a busy week. There were star performances across the board.
There will be some overlap between this list and standouts from Prep Classic, where we’re highlighting the top performances from uncommitted prospects in the 2026 and 2027 classes. But I’ve used this space to feature some of the best games from players who are committed in the 2026 class.
As always, coaches and players are encouraged to submit nominations for our stars of the week. If doing so, please email me at steve.hewitt@basketballjournal.com or by connecting with us or tagging us on Twitter/X (@steve_hewitt or @nehoopjournal) and Instagram (@nebasketballjournal). Be sure to include stats and any context to the player’s performance.
Here are 10 stars from last week, covering Dec. 1-7.
Josiah Adamson, CATS Academy
Class of 2027, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Boston, Mass.
Adamson erupted for 31 points, including four 3-pointers, in CATS EYBL’s win over PHH Prep before adding 23 points in Sunday’s loss to Brimmer & May as he continued the hot start to his junior season.
PREP CLASSIC: 8 uncommitted 2026 standouts from the event
Zach Baum, Nobles
Class of 2026, 6-8 forward
Hometown: Needham, Mass.
NCAA: Bowdoin
Baum began his final season on the right foot, making big plays down the stretch – including a three-point play – to seal Nobles’ season-opening win over Dexter Southfield before posting 20 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Brunswick at the Prep Classic.
Jack Charchaflian, Nobles
Class of 2028, 6-0 guard
Hometown: Winchester, Mass.
Charchaflian took NEPSAC by storm in his debut week. He scored a game-high 24 points, including 17 in the second half, to lead Nobles to a come-from-behind season-opening road win over Dexter Southfield last Wednesday, and he was reliable and impactful as a playmaking lead guard in their two wins at the Prep Classic.
PREP CLASSIC: Charchaflian's big performances among weekend's top takeaways
Dywane Chess, St. George’s
Class of 2026, 6-4 guard
Hometown: Bethlehem, Pa.
NCAA: Marist
Chess was a man possessed in St. George’s big opening weekend, leading the Dragons to convincing wins over Tilton and Winchendon. He scored 21 points vs. Tilton before going off for a career-high 33 points with 11 rebounds in a physically dominant performance vs. Winchendon, in which he finished several three-point plays.
Quinn Costello, Newman
Class of 2026, 6-10 forward
Hometown: Medford, Mass.
NCAA: Michigan
Costello continued his torrid start to the winter, producing game highs with 29 points and 13 rebounds in Newman’s dominant win over Phelps. The Michigan commit leads the undefeated Cardinals this season with 20.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
FAITH REWARDED: Inside Quinn Costello's life-changing spring and summer
Alex Egbuonu, Lawrence Academy
Class of 2026, 6-7 wing
Hometown: Nashua, N.H.
NCAA: Marquette
Egbuonu, fittingly, won the first MVP award of the Kevin Wiercinski Memorial Game with 26 points, including a handful of highlight-reel one-handed dunks, in Lawrence Academy’s season-opening victory over Mount St. Charles. He followed that with 31 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in a close loss to MacDuffie, where his future college coach, Shaka Smart, was sitting courtside.
GOLDEN EAGLE: Why Egbuonu chose Marquette
Brayden Harris, MacDuffie
Class of 2026, 6-5 wing
Hometown: San Jose, Calif.
Harris finds himself on this list after another week of high-level shotmaking. He scored 23 points on 5-for-9 from deep in MacDuffie’s win at Wilbraham, and he scored 30 points on 7-for-10 shooting from long range in Sunday’s win over Lawrence Academy. He’s shooting 56 percent from distance this season.
Jack Louridas, Albany Academy
Class of 2026, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Delmar, N.Y.
NCAA: Yale
Louridas has been one of the most consistent performers in NEPSAC to start the season. Another strong week saw the Yale commit post 28 points, six rebounds and four assists in a win over Deerfield Academy before producing 29 points, five rebounds and three assists in Sunday’s victory over Worcester Academy.
Ladanion Payne, Brimmer & May
Class of 2027, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Mattapan, Mass.
Payne was the heartbeat of Brimmer’s big weekend. He had 23 points, six rebounds and four assists in Friday’s win over Rivers and contributed 20 points, six rebounds and three assists in Sunday’s signature victory over CATS Academy EYBL.
Michai White, Brewster Academy
Class of 2028, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Hackensack, N.J.
White, ranked No. 17 in the 2028 class by ESPN, scored 14 points in Brewster’s rout of Brooks on Friday night, but his defensive impact was even more impressive. He forced the opposing guards into turnovers, consistently jumped passing lanes for deflections and steals, fought for defensive rebounds underneath and even took a charge. He was everywhere.
