The NEPSAC Scholastic Showcase gives us a great introduction to the new names to watch next season. We covered a handful of the newcomers that we’ll see at next month’s event from both the backcourt and frontcourt.
But the showcases will also give us a first look at some familiar faces in new threads.
Since the season ended in March, we’ve seen a slew of transfer announcements from prospects around the region who are changing NEPSAC teams. The reasons for making a move vary, of course, but they generally revolve around what they view as a better playing opportunity and/or fit, a chance to play against a higher level of competition and the hope for more exposure. Many of them will make their team debuts at the NEPSAC Scholastic Showcases – which take place June 12-14 and June 26-28 at Worcester Academy – in front of college basketball coaches during the live periods.
Here are 14 familiar faces in new places that we’re watching next month.
Declan Griffiths, St. Thomas More
Class of 2027, 6-7 wing
Hometown: Simsbury, Conn.
The former Avon Old Farms standout is one of the fastest rising names in the country right now on the grassroots scene with the Middlesex Magic and holds recent offers from St. Bonaventure, Boston College and Northwestern. Griffiths is No. 9 in our 2027 rankings.
Editor's note: Griffiths initially announced earlier this spring that he was transferring to Newman, but announced on June 5 that he'll be heading to St. Thomas More.
Drew Herren, Worcester Academy
Class of 2028, 6-0 guard
Hometown: Providence, R.I.
Herren was the Class C Player of the Year after leading Wheeler to the No. 4 seed and the semifinals in the Class C playoffs. He surpassed 1,000 career points as a sophomore and brings skill and toughness as a lead guard. A member of BABC’s 16U team, Herren is the son of Durfee High legend and former NBA player Chris Herren.
Begad Ibrahim, Albany Academy
Class of 2027, 6-4 guard
Hometown: Clifton Park, N.Y.
Ibrahim averaged 14 points per game with South Kent last season, which included notable performances against Newman – 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting – and Darrow – 23 points on 4-for-4 from 3-point range. He’s a knockdown 3-point shooter and versatile defender.
Paxton Ivy, Phillips Andover
Class of 2027, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Heath, Texas
Ivy had a solid debut NEPSAC season with Lawrence Academy, averaging 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting above 40 percent from deep as a starter on a Class AA playoff team. He’s ranked No. 48 in our Class of 2027 rankings.
Aidan Knight, South Kent
Class of 2027, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Nashua, N.H.
Knight spent the 2025-26 season at Winchendon and joins an exciting South Kent backcourt that also includes fellow 2027s Grant McDuffie and Eliezer Delbrey, who was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Rhode Island. A high-level defender, Knight had a breakout spring last year with Team NSSA.
Lincoln Malcore, St. Paul’s
Class of 2029, 6-9 forward
Hometown: Wilton, Maine
The next big talent out of Maine, Malcore averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game last season at Kents Hill. He’s physical, skilled and versatile on both ends of the floor. He’s a member of our 2029 watch list.
Jordan Maxson, Tilton
Class of 2028, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Salem, Mass.
A dynamic scorer, Maxson surpassed 1,000 career points at Pingree, which included an explosive 50-point game last season. He earned All-NEPSAC Class B Small and All EIL honors and has enjoyed a strong spring with BABC’s 16U team.
Jackson Perri, Kimball Union
Class of 2028, 6-0 guard
Hometown: West Roxbury, Mass.
Perri had another standout winter at Roxbury Latin, where he averaged 16.5 points and five assists per game, and now heads to KUA for an expected step up in level in Class AA. The Mass Rivals guard is a natural with the ball in his hands, whether it’s scoring or facilitating, and has an advanced understanding of the game.
Thomas Quinlan, Dexter Southfield
Class of 2028, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Dorchester, Mass.
An All-ISL selection last winter with Roxbury Latin, Quinlan can fill it up in the scoring column and is a dangerous threat from 3-point range. He plays with strength and physicality on both ends of the floor and should be a great fit in coach Matt Droney’s high-powered offense.
Jahmez Reaves, Albany Academy
Class of 2028, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Rochester, N.Y.
Reaves is a two-way force who averaged 11 points, six rebounds and four assists per game last season at Frederick Gunn, where he was named to the All Western New England Prep All-Defensive team. He plays grassroots basketball with City Rocks.
Jack Stevens, Choate
Class of 2027, 6-0 guard
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Stevens was a Founders League honorable mention selection at Brunswick last season. He’s a strong shot creator who’s a confident 3-point shooter and has an innate ability to get to his spots for pull-ups. Stevens is a high-academic Division 3 prospect who’s having a strong spring with the NY Rens.
King Tiah, St. Paul’s
Class of 2028, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Providence, R.I.
Tiah was a standout guard alongside Herren at Wheeler, where he averaged 18 points per game while shooting 38 percent from 3-point territory. He’s a strong and athletic lead guard who can score and make plays at all three levels.
Ryan Trimboli, St. Thomas More
Class of 2028, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Norwalk, Conn.
The younger brother of AJ Trimboli, Ryan produced 11.6 points and four assists per game while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range last season at King. He should fit in as a reliable, versatile ball-handler at St. Thomas More with the talented Chancellors.
Braylon Washington, Darrow
Class of 2028, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Easton, Mass.
Washington is transferring from CATS Academy to Darrow, where the new-look Ducks should benefit from the dynamic offensive threat. The BABC guard is a confident shotmaker and has a high motor on defense.
