The first NEPSAC Scholastic Showcase is still a month away, but it’s not too early to look ahead.
Annually one of the biggest prep events of the year, each of this year’s two NEPSAC Scholastic Showcases will take place at Worcester Academy. The first one comes June 12-14, with the second showcase coming two weeks later from June 26-28. Both weekends come during live periods, which allow Div. 1 coaches to watch and evaluate in person.
The June NEPSAC showcases are also valuable because they gives teams their first opportunity to play together ahead of the 2026-27 season. As usual, there will be dozens of newcomers lining the courts at Worcester Academy. Many are coming from the MIAA, CIAC and other state associations as they pursue their basketball dreams by joining the highest level of prep basketball the region can offer.
Full team rosters and schedules for the showcases are not yet available, and there will likely be some additions in the coming weeks. But we already have a good idea of many of the new faces playing in NEPSAC boys basketball next season. Here’s a snapshot of 15 guards set to make their debut at next month’s showcases.
Thomas Behrmann, Tilton
Class of 2027, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Medfield, Mass.
Behrmann was a frequent selection of our MIAA stars of the week this past winter. He averaged 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.8 steals per game while shooting 39 percent from 3 as he led Medfield to the MIAA Div. 3 quarterfinals before choosing to pursue a postgraduate year at Tilton. The dynamic Team White Mamba guard will join a fun backcourt under legendary coach Marcus O’Neil that also features Jakare Innocent and Jordan Maxson.
Sam Brigham, Cushing
Class of 2027, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Springfield, Mass.
Cushing has big shoes to fill in its backcourt after the graduations of Ryan Moesch and Brady O’Connell. Enter Brigham, as well as the next guard on this list. He racked up 2,107 career points in four years at Pope Francis – where he led the Cardinals to this year’s MIAA Div. 2 Final Four – before reclassifying to join Cushing. I expect him to be one of the Penguins’ top scoring options. He has a Div. 2 offer from American International.
Josh Charlot, Cushing
Class of 2027, 5-11 guard
Hometown: Fairfield, Conn.
Charlot was one of the top guards in Connecticut as the star at Notre Dame Prep, where he averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game in leading the Lancers to the SWC championship. An electric offensive talent, Charlot brings high energy and terrific defensive instincts. He should step in as the new point guard for the defending Class AA champions.
Jayden Delaleu, Worcester Academy
Class of 2028, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Millbury, Mass.
Delaleu starred for nearby Millbury as he helped the Woolies reach the MIAA Div. 4 Final Four before reclassifying for two seasons at Worcester Academy. He’s a long, dynamic and athletic guard with a high IQ. I saw him make a terrific play to beat Abington on a buzzer-beating layup this winter.
Eliezer Delbrey, South Kent
Class of 2027, 6-3 guard
Hometown: Providence, R.I.
Delbrey was named Rhode Island’s Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging a state-leading 27.2 points per game to go along with eight rebounds and six assists. A natural scorer, he finished his career at Classical with 2,203 points before reclassifying to join coach Craig Carter and South Kent in Class AAA.
Trevor Gardner, Dexter Southfield
Class of 2029, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Quincy, Mass.
After a standout freshman season at Xaverian, Gardner chose to join Dexter Southfield to pursue basketball and football at a higher level. A quarterback in football, he has high-level physical tools and athleticism that should translate right away in Class A.
Ladainian Rodrigues, Suffield
Class of 2027, 6-4 guard
Hometown: Attleboro, Mass.
Rodrigues was a staple of Attleboro’s rise as one of the best in MIAA Div. 1 over the last two seasons. He averaged 19.2 points and 10 rebounds per game this season as a senior captain for the Blue Bombardiers. A physical guard with a strong motor, Rodrigues is having a strong spring with Team Sims and should get scholarship looks as a postgrad at Suffield.
Junior Jean-Philippe, Rivers
Class of 2030, 5-10 guard
Hometown: Waltham, Mass.
Jean-Philippe emerged as one of the state’s brightest young stars as a freshman at Waltham High School, where he was named a Dual County All-Star. He’s one of new head coach Jacob Werrick’s first recruits at Rivers, where he’ll repeat as a freshman.
Miles Nelen, Darrow
Class of 2027, 6-1 guard
Hometown: Cooperstown, N.Y.
Nelen was selected as the New York Class C Player of the Year after averaging 28 points per game, and he should be one of the best 3-point shooters as he enters NEPSAC Class AAA next season. He made 91 triples as part of his 710 points last season.
Teddy O’Neill, Tabor
Class of 2029, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Swampscott, Mass.
O’Neill was selected as a member of the NEC All-Conference team after leading Swampscott to a 17-5 record and an appearance in the MIAA Div. 3 round of 16. He had several huge scoring outbursts, including a 42-point performance in December.
Leon Powe III, Newman
Class of 2027, 6-5 guard
Hometown: Richmond, Calif.
The son of former Celtics player Leon Powe, the big guard is a three-level scorer, strong playmaker and physical presence. He joined the Middlesex Magic’s top 17U team this spring and should be a welcome addition to a Newman backcourt that had significant departures.
Cam Santos, Vermont Academy
Class of 2027, 6-5 guard
Hometown: Bridgewater, Mass.
Santos was a crucial piece of Bridgewater-Raynham’s run to the MIAA Div. 1 quarterfinals and landed on our All-MIAA third team after averaging 18.6 points, eight rebounds and three steals per game. With good size, athleticism and strong two-way impact, Santos should be on the scholarship radar as he enters his postgraduate year with Vermont Academy.
Jacob Seyfried, Taft
Class of 2027, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Milton, Mass.
Seyfried was a Catholic Conference All-Star as a senior captain at BC High this season after averaging 12 points and 3.2 assists per game while leading the Eagles to the Div. 1 quarterfinals. He’s a high IQ player who should be on the Division 3 radar.
Dom Taylor, St. Andrew’s
Class of 2027, 6-0 guard
Hometown: Somerset, Mass.
Taylor was a critical piece of Somerset Berkley’s MIAA Div. 2 championship team in 2025 before enjoying a dominant season in a bigger role for the Raiders this season, which included a 51-point, 12-rebound effort in February. He should give St. Andrew’s and coach Mike Hart a strong scoring punch with 3-point range.
Sean Wilson, Choate
Class of 2027, 6-2 guard
Hometown: Trumbull, Conn.
I highlighted Wilson as a standout at last weekend’s New England Jam Fest, where he used his physical frame and scoring ability to make a positive impact for the House We Built. He was a two-time FCIAC Player of the Year at Trumbull High School and should be one of Class A’s most impactful newcomers as a lead guard at Choate.
