Could there be another 2,000-point scorer in Massachusetts this season? It looks likely.
This week’s standouts include more career performances, more career milestones and one player who’s approaching that rare 2K feat. Each of these performers seem to be playing at their best as they look to lead their teams to state tournament runs beginning later this month.

Here are this week’s stars from Feb. 2-8.
Shyheim Babb, Lynn Classical
Class of 2026, 6-5 forward
Babb powered Lynn Classical to three more wins, including a 17-point, 15-rebound, four-block effort vs. Burncoat, a team-high 23 points vs. Lynn English and a 19-point, 14-rebound double-double vs. Somerville. The Rams are 14-2 and have a top-four seed in Division 3.
Sam Brigham, Pope Francis
Class of 2026, 6-3 guard
The star senior continued his brilliant winter with a season-high 34 points – which included seven 3-pointers – in a victory over Agawam. He also posted 21 points in a win over Putnam Voc-Tech. Brigham, who is averaging 23.5 points per game, is now 88 points away from reaching 2,000 career points.
Allen Brown Jr., Holbrook
Class of 2026, 5-10 guard
A week after surpassing 2,000 career points, Brown Jr. went off for a career-high 54 points – the highest known single-game points total in MIAA this season – in Holbrook’s 89-84 win over South Shore Charter. He also put up 22 points in a victory over Avon. The Rams hold a 15-1 record and were No. 6 in the latest Div. 5 power rankings.
Brody Bumila, Bishop Feehan
Class of 2026, 6-9 forward
NCAA: Texas (baseball)
Needing 45 points to reach 1,000 career points, Bumila almost impossibly hit the mark in just one half of play. The Bishop Feehan star notched a ridiculous 46 points in the first half of the Shamrocks’ victory over Cardinal Spellman on Friday night. Bumila, a matchup problem at 6-foot-9, hit the mark on a transition three-point play in the final minute of the half, and in a wild scene, teammates and students proceeded to spill on to the court to celebrate the accomplishment. Bumila finished with 46 points; he didn’t play in the second half.
TWO-SPORT TERROR: Inside Brody Bumila's dominance in both baseball and basketball
On his senior night, Bishop Feehan star Brody Bumila scored 46 points in the FIRST HALF to surpass 1,000 career points. He needed 45 to hit the mark entering tonight.
Here’s the moment he reached his milestone.

Beverly’s dominant 80-36 win over Newton South was fueled by Klass, who scored 31 points to go with five rebounds and five assists. He also had 24 points in the Panthers’ 69-56 victory over Swampscott.
