With 16 schools to choose from, the first Class AA preseason team was a bear to narrow down to five players.
There are several studs among the headlining teams in the class, but the division is deep, with emerging stars on some squads that may be considered overlooked.
Class AA said goodbye to Bradford Christian after the program shut down following its title last season. There were five players from that school who were named All-NEPSAC, but even with their departures, the class returns and welcomes so much talent. Shooters, scorers and playmakers are the theme of this squad, and they represent a truly exciting division that should produce must-see basketball this winter. They’re all looking to prove themselves in the chase to be crowned a new champion in March.
Take note that, just like the other preseason teams, selecting this squad was not based on college potential. Individual talent, proven success and winning impact at this level were the main factors. There are many deserving names, but here are our picks for the Class AA boys preseason team for this season.

Greg Brooks, Northfield Mount Hermon
Class of 2025, 5-11 guard
Hometown: Buffalo, N.Y.
Brooks missed a significant portion of last season due to injury, but he was uber-productive when he was on the floor. He led NMH in scoring with 21.8 points per game on 39 percent shooting from deep and over 50 percent from the field. He’s healthy now and the unquestioned leader for a strong NMH squad with high hopes this season.
Jaylen Harrell, CATS Academy
Class of 2025, 6-6 guard/forward
Hometown: Needham, Mass.
Also a member of our All-New England preseason team, Harrell is an early frontrunner for Class AA player of the year as he leads championship favorite CATS. He’s relieved to have his college decision out of the way after committing to Providence this summer, and after suffering a first-round playoff loss last season, his sole focus is wrapping his high school career on a high note. Expect an even bigger winter from Harrell.
Sam Fleming, Wilbraham & Monson
Class of 2026, 6-8 forward
Hometown: Springfield, Mass.
An athletic, 6-foot-8 hybrid forward from Springfield, Mass., Fleming took some time to adjust to the physicality of NEPSAC last season, but he still showed flashes of why he’s one of the best 2026 prospects in New England. Now, after adding some weight in the offseason and having a strong summer with BABC, Fleming has regained his confidence as he leads a competitive squad from Wilbraham.
Alex Egbuonu, Lawrence Academy
Class of 2026, 6-6 forward
Hometown: Nashua, N.H.
Egbuonu hovered around 20 points per game as one of the most efficient scorers in NEPSAC to go with more than eight rebounds per game as a sophomore, and the best is yet to come for the 6-foot-6 forward who’s earning more and more Division 1 interest. He’ll have an even greater responsibility this season – he’ll be expected to have a bigger voice as a leader, and with defenses focused on taking him away, it’s an opportunity for him to show more of his underrated playmaking ability.
Dylan Veillette, St. George's
Class of 2025, 6-7 forward
Hometown: Ridgefield, Conn.
An All-NEPSAC selection last season, Veillette is one of the most versatile and dynamic forwards in the league. At 6-foot-7, he can run the floor with a strong motor and is athletic enough to create matchup fits for opposing frontcourts. He impacts the game on both ends, and with an emerging jumper, a big winter is expected as he leads an older St. George’s squad that’s ready to make a run in Class AA.
Honorable mention: Jake Blackburn, Worcester Academy; Windston Legentus, Brimmer & May; Jaxson Terry, CATS; Vincent Chaudhri, Northfield Mount Hermon; Jay Jones, Cushing
