DEDHAM, Mass. – Worcester Academy scored the first basket of the game – a triple from Maddie Keough – but Darrow School went on a 14-0 run immediately after that, and never looked back to secure the program’s first Class AA championship win, 55-40, at Noble and Greenough on Sunday.
Darrow is only in its second Class AA season – jumping up from Class D following the 2023-24 season – but head coach Abby Streeter, who is in her second year coaching the Ducks, had high expectations as soon as she took on the coaching job.
“When I got the job here, I told my head of school and my athletic director, I’m not doing a rebuilding stage. I like to win. I’ll be miserable if I lose,” Streeter said. “They supported me, allowed me to bring the right players in to be able to win. I’m super grateful for that, because without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to do this.”
Three of Darrow’s starters – Dior Dobere, Taelor Arnold and Brooke Lilley – are three small guards who all transferred into the program this season. Each scored double-digit points in the championship win. Dobere led the charge with 13, and Arnold and Lilley scored 11 apiece.
