As if NEPSAC boys basketball teams didn’t already have enough to worry about during the final week of the regular season, then a blizzard came.
The historic Blizzard of ‘26 caused mayhem throughout New England, and NEPSAC basketball schedules and playoff chases were disrupted in the process. The storm threw a wrench into a pivotal week for teams across the region that are fighting for playoff qualification or positive momentum heading into the postseason. Several games needed to be rescheduled, and some even needed to be cancelled since there’s little opportunity for a makeup date with the playoffs starting next week.
While every team in our Top 10 is safely in their respective playoff fields, the next few days before Sunday’s bracket release promise to be fascinating. Several Class AAA matchups will help determine seeding, multiple Class AA games will help decide playoff berths and there’s more to be figured out in other classes. Phillips Exeter’s Class A playoff fate may be decided with its rivalry road game at Phillips Andover. It’s possible Saturday’s matchup between Brooks and Roxbury Latin could impact the final playoff spot in Class B Large, too.
This is our final regular-season check-in before next week’s playoffs – a mad sprint between Sunday’s bracket release, Wednesday’s quarterfinals, Saturday’s semifinals and Championship Sunday on March 8. Here’s how the NEPSAC boys Top 10 shapes up.
