Behind them? It’s kind of a mess.
The final two weeks of the NEPSAC boys regular season promise some level of chaos, especially in AAA and AA. After Newman, there’s a real fight for both the No. 2 seed and a top four seed that guarantees home court in the first round. In AA, the top four teams – all in this week’s Top 10 – seem to be carved in stone. But the race for playoff qualification is fascinating, with a dizzying number of possibilities based on results over this final stretch.
A reminder on our rankings: While head-to-head outcomes are certainly part of the formula, it’s not everything. At this point in the season, rankings solely based on head-to-head rankings are impossible. This is especially true in AAA, where everyone is beating each other. Game context (missing players, location, etc), recent form and the eye test are also important parts of the calculus.
