September has been a whirlwind month on the college recruiting front.

Close to 60 girls around New England have announced their college destinations, highlighted by a flurry of activity earlier this month. And though the boys started slow, we’ve seen significant commitments announced in each of the last few weeks.

Who were the biggest stars to announce their decisions? Which colleges landed steals? And who should you be following for a commitment coming soon?

Highlights

What do you think led Ryan Moesch to ultimately choosing Siena over Providence?

Steve: “I think Siena offered him an opportunity he couldn’t really pass up. I think Gerry McNamara, the head coach there, they developed a really strong relationship. Obviously McNamara is a Syracuse legend and that’s where Ryan Moesch is from. … He made a ton of visits — I think they even had a golf outing this summer — and Gerry, I’m told, was very aggressive in sustaining and building that relationship. … The expectation is (Moesch) is gonna be a Day 1, if not starter, impact contributor for Siena, and I don’t think he would’ve had the same opportunity at Providence.”

Who are the top prospects uncommitted on the girls side?

Ethan: “Fope Ayo is the obvious one — top college prospect in New England at Austin Prep, ranked No. 34 in the country by ESPN. I was just at Austin Prep’s open gym Sept. 18 and Michigan and Florida State were there putting in the work, trying to recruit her. Miami made a home visit. I was told Stanford and South Carolina are involved, and so I think that’s the top tier of schools after her.”
