STOUGHTON, Mass. — More than 200 players stood on the baseline of the Dana Barros Basketball Club on Friday night, patiently waiting for their opportunity at New England Recruiting Report’s Elite 75 Frosh/Soph Showcase.
Holding a microphone in front of them, NERR’s Dylan Thayer rattled off a list of past stars from this event who went on to become household names. Andre Drummond, Georges Niang. More recently, Alex Egbuonu and Quinn Costello.
Some of the best underclassmen in the region were listening, hoping to join a future version of that list. Over the years, this event has annually become the preeminent showcase for the best freshmen and sophomores in New England as the next wave of stars from the region look to make a name for themselves.
One takeaway from Friday for the first of NERR’s two showcases this weekend? There are at least a handful of special prospects in New England’s 2028 and 2029 classes. A few of these names have already made my first 2028 watch list from last month, but there were even more who caught my eye. Here are 10 standouts – and some honorable mentions – from Friday’s NERR Elite 75 Frosh/Soph Showcase in Stoughton.
