NEPSAC boys basketball is, mostly, in a healthy place. But that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.
Amateur basketball has been in a rapidly changing state over the last handful of years, with the introduction of NIL (name, image and likeness) and the transfer portal having a trickle-down effect from the college to the prep school level. It’s forcing leagues like NEPSAC to adapt with the times in the pursuit of positioning its players for Division 1 scholarships and college readiness.
This summer, we polled coaches around NEPSAC for a variety of questions on the state of the league. Part 1 of our series focused on the best and underrated players in NEPSAC, and Part 2 centered on teams. For Part 3, we asked coaches some big-picture questions. In this section, here are the two questions: What rule or structural change would you make to NEPSAC? And how concerned are you about the evolution of recruiting in NEPSAC during recent years?
