The last four months of grassroots basketball were most helpful in my understanding of the 2028 class. I learned a lot about the early stars of this group and have made some changes accordingly.
We have a 2028 reclass and a huge breakout at center among the new names in our August watch list update. The peak of this class looks special with one nationally-ranked superstar already and a few others with sky-high ceilings.
I want to re-emphasize that I’m still doing a ton of learning about who makes up the 2028 elite tier. These prospects are all very young, playing in various situations regarding role and competition, and in an important developmental stage. Some players just missed the watch list who I am still very excited about; others simply made important statements during the past AAU season. Rankings and watch lists are fun — but especially with the younger classes, consider these just a snapshot as everyone keeps growing. I explained a bit more about my approach in the 2026 watch list.
That being said, I'm much more confident in my understanding of the 2028 group compared to three months ago. Here's a look at the top 10 prospects in the class right now.
