AVON, Conn. — The 2025 NEPSAC Boys Scholastic Showcases are in the books.
The second weekend of New England’s annual marquee summer recruiting event once again took place in the comfortable confines of Avon Old Farms’ spacious three-court gym. Like at Babson last weekend, the showcase drew more than 200 college coaches from all levels. Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and Marquette’s Shaka Smart checked in for a second straight weekend, and locals from every division of college hoops lined the courts to get another look at the region’s top talent.
While the weekend provided another chance to see some of the established powers in the region – plus the summer debuts of St. Thomas More and South Kent – it was also a good opportunity to get a closer scout at some of the underrecruited and emerging talent. The high-major prospects naturally get most of the attention, but it was a good reminder that New England is deep with college-bound recruits that are fetching interest from every level of college basketball.
I caught Friday and Saturday’s action in person at Avon Old Farms, and monitored Sunday’s slate from a far. While I made sure to catch several of the Class AAA and AA programs again, I focused a significant part of my weekend getting a better feel on teams and prospects from other levels of NEPSAC. I was able to find a handful of new gems – at least for my eyes.
