
The MIAA boys basketball championships put a fitting bow on a season that won’t soon be forgotten.
The final weekend of the winter at the Tsongas Center in Lowell didn’t disappoint. Norwell and Pioneer Valley each completed undefeated seasons. Two No. 6 seeds, Somerset Berkley and Georgetown, captured long-awaited championships. And on Sunday, the season concluded with one of the most thrilling championship games in recent memory, with Franklin reaching the mountaintop in Division 1.
A common thread between the championship teams and their biggest challengers? Star power.
Throughout the tournament’s three-week journey to the championships, the best players from across the state stepped up in big ways to lead their teams to deep runs, and some lifted them to glory. Some are known commodities, while other lesser-known stars made a name for themselves.
