WINDSOR, Conn. – Every possession down the stretch was an ordeal for St. Luke's. Turnovers, shot-clock violations and contested looks meant easy buckets were a rarity.
But for Rivers and Natalia Hall-Rosa, they were a luxury. The senior guard/forward had her way at the rim, at mid-range and anywhere in between.
Backed by Hall-Rosa’s team-high 21 points, third-seeded Rivers (19-8) locked up No. 5 St. Luke’s (15-10) in the second half en route to a 53-37 triumph Sunday afternoon in the NEPSAC Class B championship, held at Loomis Chaffee.
“I knew they were going to fight. They weren't going to make it easy for us, so I was just trying to simplify it for myself and my teammates (by) getting what they were giving to us,” Hall-Rosa said. “Just bringing the defense, keeping it simple and doing what I do.”
