Bishop Feehan earned a season sweep of Catholic Central League rival Cathedral, but it didn't come without a fight.
The Shamrocks, who sit atop our rankings, led 44-29 through three quarters. Then the seventh-ranked Panthers staged a valiant comeback attempt, coming as close as 55-53 in the final 10 seconds before the 56-53 final score. Cathedral's nonstop attacking and high-energy defense proved exhausting — especially for Shamrocks point guard Charlotte Adams-Lopez, who was playing her second game since missing nine due to a nasty combination of monu and stomach flu.
It's been a grueling recent stretch for the Shamrocks (18-2). Four of their last six games have been decided by one possession or less, including a controversial buzzer-beating loss at St. Mary's. They've played their last four games on the road and have two more road games upcoming with the Board 27/Comcast Tournament at Emmanuel College.
"(It's) kind of a combination of being up for the challenge and trying to get mentally focused on each game, but also recognizing what a tough task it is to play," Bishop Feehan coach Amy Dolores said. "I mean, we've been on the road to St Mary's, we went to Lawrence, we went to Boston in (five) days, and they're still going to school and being teenagers and doing all that stuff."
