WESTON, Mass. — Don't judge a basketball game by its final score.
Wednesday's premier matchup between Tilton, our third-ranked NEPSAC team, and fourth-ranked Loomis Chaffee didn't see a ton of shots fall — it was super entertaining because of the relentless defensive effort from both teams. The Rams trailed narrowly throughout the first half, used a 10-2 run to take the lead in the third quarter, and hung on late for a 45-38 victory at Rivers.
"This win today, on the road especially and having to grind it out, it means the world," Tilton coach Tara Brisson said. "Because now I think the confidence skyrockets, their belief in each other skyrockets, and they know what I've been trying to tell them all year: 'You are so good defensively that you will stay in every single game. Once you can put it together on the offensive end, we'll be really scary.'"
Here are five standouts from the matchup.
