If the first half of the MIAA boys basketball was any indication, the stretch run is going to be very fun.
The teams we expected to be top contenders have not disappointed, and rivalry matchups have delivered with several thrilling finishes. Buzzer-beaters and crazy shots have defined the greatest games. Many of the state’s brightest stars have exceeded their lofty expectations with brilliant seasons to date, and emerging young stars have made a name for themselves.
And yet, there’s still so much more to go. The best is yet to come in this MIAA season, with conference races heating up and the state tournaments looming closer than we realize, as players and programs look to cement their lasting legacies.
With a little more than half of the regular season complete, it’s a good time to take stock of what we’ve learned and what to look forward to during the stretch run. Here are some of my midseason takeaways.
