WESTON, Mass. — Allyn Wright stepped into a wide-open 3-pointer, drilled it and then shushed the Rivers’ crowd with his right hand.
“It was a dagger, so I had to,” Wright said after, with a smile.
The St. George’s guard had every right to after a career performance. Wright scored 30 points, which included six 3-pointers, as the Dragons went into Benson Gymnasium and came away with an impressive, 74-64 road victory over Rivers on Friday night, ending the Red Wings’ winning streak at eight games.
St. George’s – which improved to 12-1 and 5-0 in the ISL with the win – were missing starting guard Dywane Chess on Friday, but the Dragons had enough firepower to overcome it. They started slow, but behind Wright’s hot shotmaking, steadied the tide to take a six-point lead at halftime before holding off Rivers throughout the second half for the victory.
