SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A national ranking could very well be within Amir Jenkins’ near future, and the star point guard for Worcester Academy can’t lie: While it’s not a singular focus, that would be a dream come true.
“When I was a little kid, I always wanted to be ranked one day,” Jenkins said after another signature game last weekend at the Hoophall Prep Showcase. “That would be like an add-on, it would be very cool, but I’m not really worried about that right now.”
Jenkins has more important things to worry about.
Nationally-ranked or not, the buzz surrounding Jenkins is real. The two-time MIAA state champion at Worcester North, and a gold medal winner on last summer’s Team USA U18 3x3 team, has transitioned with seemingly no trouble to the NEPSAC, where he’s blossomed into one of New England’s top 2026 recruits and gaining high-major attention with each winning performance.
