BELMONT, Mass. — There’s no such thing as a must-win game in early December, but on Wednesday night, Rivers and Belmont Hill entered their matchup very hungry for a victory.
Rivers had an unfortunate first week, suffering a brutal slew of injuries while losing three games, including a one-point defeat to Canterbury on Sunday. Belmont Hill wanted to rebound after a tough 15-point season-opening loss against St. Paul’s.
The result was an instant ISL classic.
Ultimately, Belmont Hill’s seniors were the difference. Fueled by big plays by Isaiah Langham and Giacomo Kaplan down the stretch, the Sextants came from behind to beat Rivers, 53-49, in overtime at a loud Fritz Gym.
