The MIAA basketball season is upon us.
The first day of the new season came on Monday, when teams across the state were allowed to hold tryouts. Next Friday, on Dec. 13, many teams will tip off their seasons. It comes fast.
The 2024-25 season will be a fascinating one to watch unfold. There was significant turnover from last season’s state champions, with many of the best players across the state either graduating or transferring to NEPSAC schools. Plenty of familiar faces return, and there should be some new ones that will catch our attention this winter.
Malden Catholic is the biggest headliner heading into this MIAA boys season, as Navy commit Matt Gaffney leads the Lancers’ quest for a historic fourth consecutive Div. 2 state championship. But who else will be worth watching?
