Podcast: Previewing the 2024-25 girls NEPSAC season

Winter basketball has arrived, and it’s time to preview what should be a competitive, new-look NEPSAC girls season.

The scene looks different following significant changes to the classifications in the fall. A new Class AAA pits seven top teams against each other, and the dominoes cascade down to affect classes from AA to B.

Steve Hewitt and Ethan Fuller break down the top classes in NEPSAC, giving insight into the best teams, sleeper schools, and players to watch.

Ethan also makes his NEPSAC championship predictions for each class.

Highlights

Tabor is the Class AAA favorite in our eyes, but who could challenge them? Is it Nobles, or is there another team?

Ethan: “I’m not going to consider any of these (schools) sleeper teams because if you’re in AAA, everyone should know these teams are great. That being said, for me, at the start of the season, it has looked like a two-horse race between Tabor and Nobles — again, given the star power, given the winning pedigree with both of them. Break that out a little bit more and I would open it up to four. I think the four preseason, legitimate title contenders are Tabor, Nobles, Tilton and Dexter Southfield.”

Who is your preseason title pick in Class AA?

Ethan: “We talked about (Northfield Mount Hermon). I’m going to pick NMH as my title pick, but this is another one where, at least on the surfacem NMH and Wilbraham and Monson are close to a coin flip for me. And it all depends on how well NMH — and it goes for the other teams too — are able to gel. Wilbraham and Munson has by far the best kind of returning continuity as not only as the Class C champions, but just with the amount of roster talent that they have back. I don’t really know what that’s going to look like and what kind of difference that it’ll make in March, but we will see.”
