Clear the paint, and get familiar with Ben Ahmed.
Ahmed, the 6-foot-10 star for Putnam Science Academy, moved to the United States from Nigeria just two summers ago but has firmly established himself as one of the best big man prospects not only in New England, but the country.
After a standout year, he recently made the decision to reclassify from the Class of 2026 to 2025. It didn’t affect his status nationally. Ahmed is rated as a four-star prospect, and he’s ranked No. 74 in 24/7 Sports’ updated 2025 national rankings. He has several high-major college programs calling him.
Ahmed is getting ready for one final hurrah this winter at Putnam Science, where he already became the school’s all-time leading rebounder last season. We caught up with the big man for a wide-ranging interview, which includes his relationship with fellow Nigerian and Putnam Science/BABC teammate Oswin Erhunmwunse, his decision to reclassify, how his recruiting is going, his inspirations and goals, and much more.
