Our mission: To shine a light on the undercovered world of amateur basketball in our region. From AAU and showcases to recruiting, prep schools and the pipeline of hoop talent that flows from New England, we will cover it all exhaustively.

We hope this website will become your go-to source for news and analysis across the amateur basketball scene — because we will consistently focus on the best talent in this region.

New England is a hotbed for basketball talent. Players like Cooper Flagg, AJ Dybantsa, Kaelyn Carroll and others are emerging from here and heading for big things in the basketball world. You can read the first of many stories about these athletes — and others — on this website already.

We intend for New England Basketball Journal to be the pre-eminent source for hoop news and analysis in our area.

We’ve hired two writers with extensive experience covering basketball around New England — Steve Hewitt and Ethan Fuller. They will tell compelling stories about key stakeholders in the basketball community. And they will be the authority on the prep school circuit and other high-level amateur basketball leagues in our area.

While New England Basketball Journal is new, we’ve been doing this for almost 30 years at our parent company, Seamans Media. You might know some of our other brands like New England Hockey Journal and New England Baseball Journal. We’re experts in covering amateur sports.

It’s our goal to provide insightful, informative and inspiring stories — here on our website, in our quarterly glossy magazine and on our Hoopwise Podcast — about the talented athletes from our region who work hard all year to make their athletic dreams come true.
