TD Garden has already hosted plenty of high-stakes basketball this year, and now the arena is adding the WNBA to its summer calendar.
The Connecticut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks will meet in Boston for a regular season contest on Aug. 20 with a slate of fun events in the preceding day.
The matchup will feature New England’s local squad in the Sun, who are again a championship contender. Connecticut started the season 10-0 and is led by Alyssa Thomas, the league’s all-time leader in triple-doubles, as well as DeWanna Bonner, who ranks fifth all-time in career points.
Connecticut also signed Veronica Burton on June 5. Burton, a Newton, Mass. native, was chosen seventh in the 2022 WNBA Draft and played two years with the Dallas Wings before being released this year.
